my conclusions
Based on my results, I was able to draw several conclusions about the counseling center and the services it offers, as well as the stigma surrounding mental illness on Emory's campus.
1) Many students believe that there is a stigma against mental illnesses on Emory's campus. While some find that Emory is an accepting community, others argue that it still continues to highlight differences and that the stigma that exists everywhere still exists at Emory.
2) Many students are not educated well enough about the services that the counseling center offers, or they find it inconvenient/a hassle to schedule appointments.
3) The referral process seems to be somewhat helpful for students, but many students are still frustrated by the fact that the counseling center does not offer free sessions for more than a semester.
4) The referral process is flawed in that the counseling center does not do a good job of following-up with its students to make sure that students actually use the referral.
Future research could investigate whether or not students would want long-term counseling offered on Emory's campus, rather than just whether or not they find the current services beneficial or not.
